Resumo: The Objective of this work was to develop a methodology to estimate the wind speed using anemometric data and to implement a numeric model to determine the aerodynamic parameters (d, Z0) and the exponent (α) of the most used equation in wind power engineering: power law. Wind data from 5 anemometric towers were used. The tower was located in 3 mesoregions of the Alagoas State (Brazil): “Litoral- coast” (Roteiro and Maragogi), “agreste -midle” (Craíbas and Girau do Ponciano) and “Sertão -West” (Água Branca). The results showed that wind velocity and direction have an annual pattern and that the velocity in the agreste and sertão is higher than in the litoral. The winds are stronger in the dry season and weaker in the rainy season, with predominant direction of SE. The algorithm developed to filter the wind data and improve best estimation of the wind velocity at wind farms reveals the cases of atypical wind behavior was 53,8%. The method developed to estimate d and Z0 from anemometric data did not present consistent results. The model used to determine the exponent α presented good results. The error was reduced from 1.13% to 0.01%. It has also been found that it varies from place to place and seasonally.
