Resumo: The Federal Constitution of 1988 (CF/88) guaranteed the right to health for all Brazilian citizens and facing this reality a new health care system was created in attempt to supply the needs of the population, as well as to intervene on determinants and constraints that influence physical, psychological and social well-being of people. Thus, the system expects professionals with ability and skills in accordance to the Unified Health System (SUS), comprehending its principles and guidelines and committing with its defense. These assumptions can be developed within training centers from resolutions, such as DCN/ENF (resolution nº 03, November 2001) elaborated aiming to subside and guide Higher Education Institutions (IES) regarding their Political Educational Projects (PPP) to develop qualification focused on the real needs of the health system. Thus, this study aims to analyze qualification of nursing students to the job market within the Unified Health System. It is an analytical, cross-sectional and quantitative approach study, conducted in 2016, with 150 nursing undergraduate students of a private institution in Alagoas. A questionnaire containing 26 objective and subjective questions concerning socio-demographic profile of subjects and their impression about the course, teaching and learning process, nursing job market and collective health. Data was collected, tabled into a Microsoft Excel® electronic spreadsheet, and analyzed via application software, Statistical Package for Social Science - SPSS®, version 20. As result, a couple of articles were developed: Perspectives of Academic Formation of Nursing Students to the Job Market within the Unified Health System and Nursing Management and Administration in Public Health: perspectives of the student's performance ability, besides of an intervention product: “SUScorrendo: first-aid training within the SUS”, which aim was to bring nursing students from the first semesters into public health system scenarios, where they could develop health education activities concerning first-aid. The new health care model increased diversity of services and assistance offered to the population, enhancing challenges in order to obtain care efficacy and quality. Among difficulties found, it is noteworthy the training process in order to achieve a new profile of health professionals based on the changes proposed by National Curricular Guidelines (DCN). Advances have started, although, practice fields and scenarios for students training are still limited, disfavoring development of skills. Besides, the new socio-demographic profile of nursing students should be an item observed by the training units, because aspects related to it seems to interfere in the teaching and learning proposals.
