Resumo: This present study is the result of a research performed during the Program of Professional Master´s Education in Health. It is constitutes a scientific article and an intervention product from this research. It had as objective to know the role of the preceptor in the formation of the odontology students in the preceptors’s vision in supervised curricular extramural training of a Odontology private education institution of Maceio-Alagoas . The research was a qualitative approach, as a type study case, which used the individual structured interview for data collection from 16 dental surgeons preceptors of a private higher education institution, being seven teachers and nine effective servers non teachers and the Technique of Thematic Content Analylis of Bardin for data analysis . The results of the present study was found to be a great difficulty in understanding and defining the role of the preceptor, highliting among those mentioned the guidance and show the reality and to serve as a model for the student . It was also noticed a lack of knowledge of the national curricular guidelines of dentistry, mainly reported by the group of non teachers, although they are being worked intuitively, while the group of teachers preceptors reported your knowledge and it targeted applications. and it was noted yet a precarious comunication between the academy and the service, and it have been highlited some limiting factors to exercise of the function. From the results it was elaborated the scientific article and the product of intervention. The objective of the product was to submit to the institution of education the datas of this research, which may have an impact on improving development of the activities of extramural stage in question, generating positive results in the formation of the student of Odontology during graduation. in this way, it was elaborated a technical report of research comprised by the search results, that when properly submitted to the structuring teacher nucleus (stn) of the respective education institution occasioned sensitize managers in order to detect possible fragilities, and potentialities found and if possible and deems it appropriate to correct them by reducing the distance between the preceptors, mainly the non teachers and the education institution, in order to improve the integration teaching-service-community on a policy of upgrading the preceptor and the establishment of eficient public politicies for the regulation of their role, clearly and effectively.
