Resumo: The aim of this study is to analyze the scientific production on active learning methodologies in the health area. It is an integrative literature review, whose search was performed in electronic databases from Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval Sistem Online (MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library online (SCIELO). The results show that 57% of the articles were published between 2011 and 2012; 78% are concentrated in the southeast and south region; the main author, 57% did not indicate his titration and 61% do not refer the type of his study nor his training; 52% of articles are characterized as research; 87% are linked to educational institutions. In general they do not have definition about active methodologies. The most frequent mentioned were problematization and problem-based learning. The theoretical framework was based on the thought of Paulo Freire. Is worth mentioning the uncertainty over active methodologies, the conceptual and theoretical fragility seems to be present in this production.
