Resumo: This PhD thesis aims to think over the relations of the writer Graciliano Ramos with the cinema. The analysis corpus is made up with texts of the writer about the cinema, the adaptations of his novels to this medium and the incorporation resources of film language in his works, especially in his novel Angústia (1936). As theoretical reference, uses contemporary theories of translation and adaptation from novels to film, making even a dialogue between literary and cinematografic theory and criticism (Jakobson, 2007; Campos, 2006; Plaza, 2003; Bakhtin, 2010; Eisenstein, 2002; Xavier, 2003; Machado, 2008; Aumont, 1995; Candido, 1992). The methodology is bibliographic and documentary research, as well as analyzes of sound-visual objects, in order to connect the two media in question, literature and cinema. Aims observe the composition of the novel Angústia, suggesting that there’s a connection of it's language with the cinema. Justifies the approach on Graciliano Ramos, and his respective dialogue with the cinema, because of the relevance to the Brazilian literature and the possibility of critical expanding on his compositional form, proposing a dialogue between his works and the cinema, in the space of exchanges that is intersemiotic translation.
