This study deals with the use of geometric constructions in teaching properties of triangles and parallelograms in the fourth cycle of basic education. A thematic chosen both because of the importance of such contents for the training of student knowledge as the need to focus on teaching strategies that assist in developing the capacity of abstraction at this stage of schooling. Adopting a constructivist vision, we point out aws in the traditional teaching of Euclidean geometry Plana and grounded in Van Hiele Theory and the National Curriculum Parameters, we established teaching strategies that prioritize the construction of knowledge through the analysis of relationship between determined geometric constructions and properties elementary of these plane figures. We work with the hypothesis that the use of manipulable materials in a context where problem solving is the base of the didactic situation is the best way to teach geometry.
