Resumo: This work proposes the synthesis, modification, characterization and evaluation of the catalytic application of Zeolite ferrierite (FER) in the n-hexane cracking. The physico-chemical properties of the zeolite ferrierite, in three synthesized compositions and in their commercial form, were modified through desilication process. The samples were modified using sodium hydroxide, at a concentration of 0.2 M and a temperature of 90°C, and subsequent treatment with oxalic acid solution (AOc) at a concentration of 1 M at room temperature. The treatments provided the significant generation of mesoporosity in the modified samples. The zeolites obtained were characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Nitrogen adsorption at -196°C by BET method and thermogravimetric analysis (ATG). The evaluation of the catalytic activity efficiency of zeolite ferrierite through the n-hexane cracking model reaction was demonstrated by obtained results, using a system of catalytic activity installed for that purpose. The results of the catalytic activity tests of the modified samples presented a decrease of the conversion, when compared with their precursor samples. However, the modified samples showed an increase in stability over their precursor samples.
