Resumo: This research aimed to diagnose the conceptions, attitudes and values nurtured by women voters and "opinion formers" from the city of Maringa on the female presence in institutional politics. The collection of data was made during the presidential election campaign 2010, which was attended by two female candidates. The specific objectives were to understand the meanings attributed to the political leadership of women and men, to get to know the factors that hinder women from being included in both politics and in their political careers, identify the elements considered by women voters and "opinion formers " that could define their vote and their perceptions of Marina Silva and Dilma Roussef in the election campaign. And finally, highlight the views of those women over abortion in the electoral process. For that study, we used qualitative research technique of focal group, which was composed of nine women who met three times at different times of the election campaign to discuss issues related to the presence of women in politics and for individual interview with them.
