Resumo: The aim of this thesis was to analyze the functional dynamics of three towns: Paranavaí, Nova Esperança and Nova Aliança do Ivaí in the context of the urban network of Maringa, in order to understand their transformation processes in the network and how cities, in new contexts and time points, underwent changes in their features and changes to its insertion into the network. Which understood as a reflection of territorial division of labor and for the same condition. Our proposal is justified as a means to understand the changes in the insertion of different levels of cities in the urban network of Maringa, through processes that make possible different paths to central locations, establishing singularities. But as these pointed elements can contribute to an analysis of the dynamics of urban network? These are three cities that had very specific developments of its functionality. In this way, the evolution of the three urban centers allows you to understand the complex economic dynamics, social and political present in the network, mainly from the year 1970. The network set up in a cutout that allows the analysis of regional development. The work of the IBGE were used (1972, 1987, 2000, 2008) called Regics, to form the basis of Maringa urban network "set of articulated functionally centers", which demonstrate the network of central locations and area of operation thereof. We made use of information provided by SECEX / MDIC, related to exports and imports of Nova Esperança and Paranavaí centers, as well as semi-structured interviews with pioneers and some social agents to show how the insertion of these municipalities was in the urban network in the 1960s and in today's new contexts. We support the analysis in the socio-category training that alludes to the concreteness of a society where each has their differences and evolution, we add also the theories of the business cycle and Brazilian duality proposed by Rangel, across geographic combinations by André Cholley. The urban network of Maringa has become increasingly complex from the perspective of the productive sector and as it expands the territorial division of labor. Therefore, studies on urban network are characterized as dynamic and is constantly in changing. According to the REGIC 2008, the city of Nova Esperança was considered with centrality local level. Given the developed analysis, it was found that the same supply goods and services to a number of municipalities around it, showing that its functionality is broader than was established by IBGE, as well as its area of influence. The role of small commodity production reveals how the local capital of Paranavaí and Nova Esperança are important because from it is that originated the part of manufacturers, merchants and service providers, creating jobs, increasing municipal revenues and projecting the two municipalities in the national and international scene, that is, the network reaches widened providing greater interactions. Nova Aliança do Ivaí is characterized as a small town in rural and urban threshold, while a local center, does not present the development of other urban activities as the presence of specialized services, a more diverse retail trade, the city serves much of needs unavoidable, while others are supplied especially in Paranavaí.
