Resumo: This study analyzes the uses of causal clauses in religious catholic articles of opinion and takes as a theoretical reference the discourse-functional grammar (DFG). This model is organized from the interaction of conceptual components containing the conceptual representations and formulations, precedent to the linguistic expression itself and it can be characterized as a description of the discourse's scope, contextual which brings a description of the domain of discourse, implying a discourse precedent and an external situation in which this discourse takes place and expression (responsible for sound or graphic expression of linguistic expression) with the grammatical component (GC) consisting of four distinct levels: Interpersonal, Representational, Morphosyntactic and Phonological. The organization of the GC, on the other hand, provides higher levels of implication in relation to them are artificial, starting from the communicative intention to articulation of linguistic expressions. Thus, to study of causal clauses, DFG enables the application of a set of parameters that allows the characterization of discourse-pragmatic's aspects, semantic and formal, according to three levels of the grammatical component namely, the Interpersonal, the Representational and Morphosyntactic respectively. At the Interpersonal are distinguished rhetorical functions, in other words, functions that relate to the speaker's communicative strategies and the types of causal arguments encoded by the clauses, and pragmatic standards that are associated with the available information at the time of the listener's communicative interaction and, therefore, can be analyzed in terms of presence or focused elements' absence. At the Representational, we describe the semantic aspects, the parameters such as type of category, time's reference and presupposition. Finally, Morphosyntactic level, one can evaluate both ordination, as the correlation-time mode and syntactic verbal cause clause with its scope of impact. The proposal aims, firstly, to investigate - from the perspective of DFG - like causal clauses provide to the argumentative function inherent in the selected genre and how they do in relation to the triad underlying dogmatic (the Bible, Tradition and the Magisterial). Concomitantly, demand specifically: a) conjugate pragmatic, semantic and syntactic aspects in the analysis of data; b) verify the different themes and subjects as factors determining the constraints of those clauses and therefore the argumentative strategies that represent of each different time in the liturgical year; c) verify greater or lesser degree of syntactic integration between causal clauses and their scopes as determinants of incidence of greater or lesser degree of semantic integration; d) analyze the correspondence between the truth value of the source/authority cited and truth value of the argument; e) to analyze the support vehicle or disclosure in which the moving corpus and, by extension, the causal clauses or not they are co-factors that determine these same constraints. Thus, according to the proposed objectives, the study of the events will take place from the description and correlation of arameters proposed for each of the three levels mentioned. Moreover, depending on the model top down, the analysis takes as its starting point the results arising from the interpersonal level parameter, called a decisive factor, from which arise the results of Representational and 26 Morphosyntactic levels, respectively, whose parameters are, turn determined. Finally, the study shows how the choices made by the writer at a higher level (interpersonal) co-determine and condition the causal clauses in subsequent levels and at the same time as the implications of constraints interact in performing the function of the argumentative causal clauses in genre article of opinion (catholic religious). The results indicate the predominance almost absolute occurrences of arguments in biblical order (to the detriment of the Magisterial and Patristic), the irregularity of the constraints of causal clauses, irrespective of length of liturgical year and its appropriateness to the context in which production is inserted - digital media online.
