Resumo: The Bernoulli simplifying hypothesis for concrete elements calculation allows an easiness on the understanding on the structural behavior of some elements. However, such hypothesis cannot be applied into certain regions, called D regions. The deep beams are The deep beams are shown in this category and in its item 22.4.3 the NBR 6118/2014 propose these elements?s design using the Strut-and-Tie Method, that consists on the design of complex structures as truss, based on the Elasticity Theory. Different from the Strut-and-Tie Method, the Stress Field Method (STM) is based on the Plasticity Theory. Both methods have the same purpose: to know the loading ways. In order to measure the methods potential the software JCONC is used, which is based in the Non-linear Elastic-plastic Stress Fields Method to the deep beams design and analysis. So, through validations and comparisons, it was possible to propose a solution based on the STM for the analysis, design and detailing of the deep beams. Lastly, are presented both, critic to the parameters established by NBR 6118 (2014) for these elements, and solutions for the deep beam design considering the minimum web influence established in the item 22.4.4.3 of the referred code
