Produção literária infantil e juvenil de Walcyr Carrasco : uma análise da construção narrativa e da representação de grupos sociais (1979-2010)

Resumo: The research presented in this thesis aims to perform an analysis of the books written for children and youth by Walcyr Carrasco, seeking an understanding of how the author works on the narrative construction in his texts, as well as the social representations that are recurring in them, based on the study of their characters, spaces represented in his work and themes discussed in them. Such research is justified because by the great reception Walcyr Carrasco's books receive by the child and youth public, making it therefore a topic of interest for the study of Brazilian Children's literature, as they can clarify issues related to the preference of this public. The research corpus includes texts written and published by Walcyr Carrasco between the years 1979 to 2010, a total of 13 narratives, from which data were collected from over 152 characters. The research had a qualitative-quantitative approach, insofar it relied on the qualitative analysis of the works, observing their compositional forms, as also held a statistical analysis of points data about the characters of the texts analyzed. The quantitative data collection was necessary so a punctual configuration of the characters, time and space privileged in the narratives were obtained in order to reflect on the social groups representation in his works. The data collected and analyzed point to the fact that in the texts of the corpus prevail the representation of various social classes being predominantly the middle class, the spaces privileged by the author are the large urban centers in the Southeast; regard to issues, the author focuses emphatically on family issues prominently in the new family structures, addressing controversial issues such as lack of paternity, homosexual relationships and different forms of discrimination, the narrator of Carrasco's texts has as narratee an contemporary individual to the time the texts were produced, both language and narrative time represent contemporary characteristics. Therefore, the texts produced by Walcyr represent the contemporary world and the readers can identify themselves with the text as for the esthetic structure that is easy to understand, as for the theme that is current and controversy which arouses the curiosity, encouraging when well exploited, the criticism of the reader.
