Resumo: This presented study has the objective of investigating whether the defining texts of the dictionaries herein consulted are constituted or not by intentionality and whether they clarify the consultants' doubts, bearing in mind that the development of each and every text is based on such intentionality, considering the discursive interlocutors' roles. In order to develop the dissertation, we chose the following lexicographic books: Dicionário Houaiss de Língua Portuguesa (Dictionaty Houaiss of Portuguese Language), Novo Aurélio séc. XXI: o dicionário de Língua Portuguesa (New Aurélio 21st century: the dictionary of Portuguese Language), Dicionário da Bíblia de Almeida (Almeida's Bible Dictionary) and Ilustrado da Bíblia (Bible Illustrated). After that procedure, lexical units (LUs) belonging to lexical field Salvation were selected, considering a theme which evokes several discussions in the contemporary society. As cut, some parts of those lexicographic books' microstructure were analyzed, more precisely, grammatical category, etymology and the defining texts of the LUs: alliance, adoption, apostasy, atonement, believer, circumcision, confession, conversion, curse, election, faith, grace, guilt, just, justification, liberty, mystery, propitiation, reconciliation, rectification redemption, repentance, remorse, salvation and Soteriology. Although it's known that the mentioned LUs are used in the construction of religious speeches, it is possible to state that they also belong to general language. This articulated analysis has a comparative character; the LUs are inserted in a chart which points to the previously mentioned data of the entries. In the analysis process, it is possible to realize that the definitions which constitute the LUs of religious character have the aim of leading the consultants to the adoption of a specific ideology. The dictionaries Houaiss de Língua Portuguesa and Novo Aurélio séc. XXI: o dicionário de lingua Portuguesa build their definitions by showing the consultants the various contexts in which the LUs belonging to the lexical field of salvation can be manifested. It was verified that neither of those two books lead their consultants to ideologies preached by Christianity, although they mention them as existent. The books Dicionário da Bíblia de Almeida and Ilustrado da Bíblia however, work on the lexicons which refer to Salvation, most of the times, only in the religious perspective, more precisely in the Christianity's one, forgetting that the LUs herein analyzed belong to the general language, and not only to a specialism language field. That matter seems rather limiting, since lexicographic books have the objective of resolving the interlocutors' possible doubts. Regarding the ideologies manifested in the defining texts, the consultants are led, directly or indirectly, to profess Christianity and defend that Salvation can b eachieved by intermediation of Jesus Christ.
