Resumo: The research was part of the "Literature, Reading and Writing Project: the remeaning of the Individuals' Identity in Atmosphere of Social Exclusion", developed in .PEM. (State Prison of Maringá), which proposed the development of a reading work and production of written texts, through workshops. In the accomplishment of the research we had as main objective to analyze the process and the texts produced to verify which contribution the reading and the written textual production can the individuals offer in condition of social exclusion. We still had as objective to contribute to broaden the world vision of those individuals, offering them subsidies for the ransom of their identity and self-esteem, getting as parameter the action-reflectionaction. The paper was guided by a sociointeractionist view linking theories that see the man in the language: Applied linguistics, Textual Linguistics, Pragmatic, Theory of the Enunciation, among others. The importance of this paper, especially with the production of written texts is theme of several works, as the one of Geraldi, Koch, Matêncio, Pereira which will guarantee part of the theoretical foundation. For us to believe in the right to the citizenship, that should be all independent from his personal situation or social condition, that is why the project has its value. Centered in the presuppositions of the Applied Linguistics, the research presents a theoretical part, that will guide the organization and development of the workshops. The developed research is qualitative interpretative, because it tries to interpret the data to answer the research question, through the produced texts. We present, at first, the work developed in .PEM., through the mentioned Project, to which we were engaged. In the sequence we make the analysis of the process, in other words, the analysis of the accomplished work, its results and of its productions, with focus on the form as the individual sees the world. The results obtained with the workshops of textual production,that had as contribution the literary text, they prove that in the writing the man finds space to rescue his identity and to improve his self-esteem, remeaning the world and himself. The accomplished research, due to its social character, besides reaching our expectations, it got to surprise us, due to the commitment and dedication of the individuals involved.
