Resumo: | The central objective of this dissertation is to analyze the importance of the minimum wage policy on the Brazilian economic development in recent years. For this, a theoretical discussion of wages in the economy, emphasizing heterodox authors, and the need for government intervention in the form of institution and fixing minimum wage is made. But, due to the heterogeneity of the governments that followed since the implementation of the minimum wage in Brazil, in first government of Getúlio Vargas, the revision of their conduct in relation to the minimum wage policy is required, which was changed in 1964 with the compression of the wages, caused by the Military Dictatorship and aggravated by attempts to contain the inflationary explosion in the decade of 1980. With the implementation of the Real Plan, the minimum wage policy was recovering its place in decision-making by governments, so that has achieved successive gains of purchasing power to the large portion of the population that depends on the minimum wage, in the last decade. Through the analysis of indicators derived from the IBGE, MPS, DIEESE, IPEA, it is apparent that the current Brazilian economic policy directed to the domestic market provides conditions that the recovery of the minimum wage is felt in other wage categories, in job creation and reduction of income inequality. |
