Resumo: | The model increasingly used in the design of pile cap is the struts and tie method. This use the load of a centered rectangular column and is unproven for blocks supporting column of complex geometry as in-wall columns, elevators blocks, stairwells, hard core of buildings, etc. In such cases, professionals end up making the simplification of the complex shape using a square section of equivalent area. In this context, the present work aims to study the pile cap behavior that receive load of complex geometry column, by the method of strut and tie and make a proposed approach for the design of these cases. To this were studied by finite element method three geometries of columns, in two block configurations. The analysis of different columns shows that the consideration of complex geometry generated a more homogeneous efforts distribution, resulting in lower tensile field when compared to equivalent square section. Thus, the studied structures confirmed the acceptance of simplifying the complex geometry of the column by column of square section equivalent, since they have led to a sizing in favor of safety |
