Sports nowadays has had important part in government discussions. Events like 2014 World Cup and Olympic Games in 2016 which are being taken as reasons for analysis and in many cases for adoption of government politics as well as institutional ones in sports in all levels of government. In this context, this research had as main goals the comprehension and assessment of city laws from due to 1990 and 2013, in Maringá/PR, Brasil. Such laws are straight related to Non-Governmental Organizations which work in sports. The employed methodology is classified as document descriptive research. ln conclusion, such city sport legislation in Maringá ensured growing volume of public resources for Non-Governmental Organizations in sports field, also created ways of controlling, checking and evaluating of activities held by these sport organizations, showing, on the other hand, a tendency of city government of decentralizing sport practice - specially non-professional sport. Further studies on the subject are suggested by this research through the use of other methodologies and techniques, contributing with production of knowledge in this area.
