Resumo: | This research strives to make a theoretical and practical contribution to the process of urban and regional planning widely spread by the government politics of urban development on the State of Paraná. It is both an exploratory and comparative study, based on an extensive literature, ranging from decision taking skills, science information, economy, sociology to urban and regional planning. The context of this research is to examine issues related to the urban growth experienced by the city of Sarandi - Metropolitan Region of Maringá - and the forecasting of future scenarios. The study presents three scenarios of land use, all formulated by different methods and techniques of spatial data. The scenario "A" uses urban growth projection that employs the tools and techniques contained in the County Master Plan. Scenario "B" and "C" are obtained through overlapping layers off spatial data, using different methods for the formul?ation of their respective territorial mosaics. The scenarios of land use "B" and "C" are formulated so that the analyzed territory reaches sustainability according to the principles of "Sustainable Cities", widely supported by Agenda 21 and Brazilian Agenda 21. Finally, a comparative analysis outlines the strengths and weaknesses of each one of the scenarios of land use. |
