Resumo: The present research entitled The Texts, produced by students of the 5th year of elementary school in the solution of multiplication problems. The research aimed to investigate the texts produced by 5th year students to solve problems of multiplication and division from an orientation specific coding. This is a research of a qualitative nature and was developed based on the concepts of Basil Bernstein's Code Theory and the research model that he developed, the Language of Description. The activities were developed in two schools of the municipal network of Feira de Santana / BA. The activities were in 5th year classes that involved two teachers and fifty four students. Observations were made during seven meetings between May and December 2017. In order to carry out this study, besides the direct observation, the written texts produced by the students assisted in solving the problems proposed, video recordings were used as well. Video recordings allowed the captured images to be taken up at different moments during the analysis, enabling readings and re-readings of the different types of texts, in function of their timeless character. This was produced in the pedagogical relationship between teachers and students, as well as between students and students. The written texts analyzed in this research refer to the following types of situations. Firstly, simple proportion, one to many, secondly, simple proportion - quota, one to many, thirdly, multiplicative comparison with referred and unknown relation, times more, lastly, measure product, rectangular configuration class and combinatorial analysis. The results of this investigation indicate that in the schooling process students are not motivated to produce new texts and associate problem solving with The Texts. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of communication in the social relationship between teachers and students and amongst students in the processes of communication that occur in interactive practice making possible approximations or the production of legitimate texts. Thus, in Bernsteinian terms, if language in the process changes there are possibilities for advancement through the production of new texts.
