Resumo: This work presents a taxonomic treatment of Sapindaceae from montane forest remnants in southern Bahia, Brazil. The main goal was to show a floristic inventory of Sapindaceae found at three montane forest remnants in southern Bahia. The first chapter presents an overview of the morphology of the group, based on the species found in the floristic inventory. The second chapter deals with the description of a new species (Paullinia unifoliolata) found in this inventory. The third chapter shows the results of the inventory. Six genera and 21 species were found. Paullinia was the richest genus (7 spp.), followed by Cupania (5 spp.), Allophylus (4 spp.), Matayba and Serjania (2 spp. each) and Talisia (1 sp.). Allophylus leucoclados¸ Cupania furfuracea, Matayba intermedia and Paullinia micrantha are cited for the first time for the northeastern Brazil. Paullinia unifoliolata, a recently described species from this study, is known from an area between Arataca and Una. Only one specimen wasn’t identified, since it didn’t fit into any of the described species of the genus (Cupania sp. 1). All Cupania species and five Paullinia are restricted to the Atlantic domain. The sampled areas from this study presented the highest species diversity of Sapindaceae for the Atlantic domain, when compared with other studies undertaken in the same domain. Keys of identification for species, descriptions, illustrations, fenological data and taxonomic comments are given for all taxa.
