Resumo: |
We present in this dissertation the reading and cataloging of João Paraguaçu`s literary production, pseudonym of the writer M. Paulo Filho (1890-1969), in the Bahian newspaper O Imparcial. The two activities will be developed on the theoretical presuppositions of Literature, Memory and History. In Olinto (1989), the Ciência da Literatura Empírica (CLE/CEL) characterizes the Literature as a social system, subject to interests and passions, in constant dialogue with other systems like History and the Press, both resulting in human actions in society. In Bosi (1994) and Halbwachs (2012), collective and social memory is identified as an articulator and continuer of human existences and productions; thus constitute actions of the systems proposed by the CLE. References as Certeau (2006) and Le Goff (1996) support the study of History as an element of referential creation and social structuring in making memoirs texts. These references exemplify the analogies between personal and public biography of M. Paulo Filho, perceived the facts and figures of culture recorded in the João Paraguaçu´s writings in articles and chronicles literary genres of observable similarities according to Coutinho (1986, v. 4, v. 6), Portella (1970) and Candido (1992). Among the 623 publications photographed and cataloged according to the methodology by Pinho (2008 v. 1, v. 2) and Castelo (1970), texts on the two topics most frequently found in the literary work João Paraguaçu will be discussed: Rui Barbosa and the Brazilian Academy of Letters. The selections of the corpus are representatively integrated into Brazilian culture publications were published in newspapers and later in books cited by few writers. The set of texts d’O Imparcial, also published in Rio de Janeiro’s Correio da Manhã is a specific contribution to Journalism, Brazilian History and Literature. This range includes the writer and his pseudonym and published texts in contemporary Literary and Cultural Studies. |
