Resumo: |
This study case represents a research for the masterʼs degree in design of the UEFS, using the sawdust carpet at Holy Week in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, as symbolic design of the sense of belonging linked to historic events of this city. Through this tradition is represented elements of past conflicts in Ouro Preto, where two communities reafirm their identities, ceating a colective art work ‒the carpet‒ and undoing it in a celebration. The research also intends to caracterize technicaly the sawdust carpet as a picture of a tradition which shows changes, such as the introduction of new materials, the rout and the use of contemporany themes. The understanding of the creation implies analyses of the designing competence used in the composition of the pieces of the carpet by the residents of Ouro Preto. By it been ephemeral, it integrates the imaterial cultural heritage of the community, and the memory of what the carpet represents constitutes a legacy to next generations. |
