Resumo: |
This academic work aimed to understand, from the perspective of Haitian students, the process of access, permanence and curricular completion in their academic trajectories provided by the UFFS Higher Education Access Program for Haitian Students (PROHAITI), offered by the Federal University of Fronteira Sul (UFFS) – Campus Laranjeiras do Sul-PR. Therefore, it is a question of observing, from the perspective of the Haitian students surveyed, how they perceive the institutional and social contribution of this Program in its establishment process in Brazil. In this sense, the approach chosen for the research focuses on qualitative research, carried out through individual in-depth interviews with 6 (six) Haitian students from UFFS – Campus Laranjeiras do Sul-PR with active enrollment, first-year students from the year 2017, when PROHAITI was implemented on this Campus, until 2022, when the term of such Program at the Institution expired. In a second moment, an interview was also carried out with 1 (one) Haitian dropout student in order to know her vision regarding PROHAITI and also the possible contributions of this Program and the public policies provided by UFFS for her permanence in Brazil during her academic career at this University. Therefore, the guiding axes of the interviews were directed at mapping the entrance numbers, permanence and curricular completion of Haitian students with active enrollment, as well as a student who dropped out, according to their enrollment situation in the year 2022, linked by PROHAITI since implementation at UFFS – Campus Laranjeiras do Sul-PR, and, from that, describe the life trajectory of these students and the obstacles faced by them in the migration process from their country of origin. In addition, we began to investigate, from the perspective of these students, the challenges and possibilities offered by PROHAITI since its link to the Program, leading to a reflection on whether, from the perspective of these interviewees, this Program was an inclusive educational and social process. In this universe, the main results pointed out that UFFS, through PROHAITI, and also, of its daily practices and public policy actions, provides access, permanence and curricular integration of Haitians in their undergraduate courses, as well as contributes socially to the establishment of this public in Brazil, while promoting their social inclusion in Brazilian society. |
