Resumo: The practice of the Environment Education (EE) can be characterize as the process that aims to supply subsidies to face the environment issues, through the change of perception of the environmental, social, critical, political and cultural issues to transform the society. To build a critical EE in teaching classes different teaching methodologies, which helps the educator in the implantation of this education, are needed. For this, the STSE approach is an ally, an approach that ensures the recognition of Science, Technology, Society an Environment, associating with a critical way of the students to recognize the articulation between the complex and interdependent dimensions of the environment. That way, in this research, we try to develop a teaching material in the form of a virtual game for smartphones, which contemplates the problematical of the solid waste for high school students, from the principles of the critical EE and the STSE teaching approach. Therefore, we made an exploratory research in the Capes Periodical and, posteriorly, a theoretical essay between the approaches and contributions of the critical EE and the STSE approach. The validation of the game occurred through the Likert scale, made by a study group and teachers of a public school. For the evaluation, a focus group was formed with the same teachers, and with the students was made an evaluation through a dialogue. We identify that is possible to build a teaching tool involving the principles of the critical EE and the STSE approach. We also realize that the virtual game for smartphones needs to be used as a teaching tool accompanied by the educator as a mediator of the knowledge, and that the solid waste theme promotes the interdisciplinary, critical reflection and discussion between all the spheres that involves itself, bringing advances in this direction. From the evaluation made both with the educators and with the students, we made changes in the virtual game, being possible to realize that it would be a promising tool for the classroom, building it into a tool that is capable to support the educator in the teaching and learning process about the solid waste theme in the classroom.
