Resumo: The present work aims to carry out a comparative study between the real history and the dramaturgical history of Roberto Athayde with the work D. Miguel, King of Portugal, written in 1998 that tells the history of the colonization of Brazil by the Portuguese crown. The focus of the work is the reign of D. Miguel, who is hardly remembered in national history even though his performance was very relevant for Brazil and Portugal and remember the whole blow given by the Infante and his mother Carlota Joaquina, wife of D. João, as well as the position of dramatized and written history in contemporary times. Historical materials will be used to find out how the actions of colonization reverberate today in a country colonized by the crown, with the objective of extracting natural wealth, with the aim of enslaving the native inhabitants, as well as analyzing the influences that led to the Independence of Brazil. The work will be based on the analysis of bibliographic references, since it is necessary to compare the relationship between the two versions of the story. The importance of this work occurs when, in contemporary times, we have authors writing about relevant historical events and takes it to dramaturgy and we realize that the real story was dramatic and is worthy of receiving a work from an important playwright like Roberto Athayde.
