Resumo: Contemporary Creative Communities are the resurgence of innovative alternatives, they are groups of people who come together to solve common problems, they can be found in Slums or in communities that use digital technologies for social and political goals. The Large Collaborative Networks can be born in Public Universities, as is the case of Telessaúde Brasil Redes. These are Academic Networks whose core is the improvement of professional and scientific knowledge for better conduct in public health services. And to understand these modern mechanisms of creativity and collaboration, this study has as main objective to analyze the evolution from Creative Communities to Large Collaborative Networks mediated by information and communication technologies. The methodology used in this research is characterized as Descriptive Analytical Research with a qualitative approach and a data analysis based on Content Analysis. When investigating the origin of the concept of Creative Communities disseminated in Brazil were found two distinct and relevant results. The first refers to a European concept disseminated in Brazilian public universities, which essentially brings a mixture of a North American economic theory about the construction of Creative Communities for a new rising class, with theories previously studied in Europe about creativity and Creative Cities. In this concept, Design intellectuals are encouraged to identify promising cases of collaboration and creativity with a view to replicating them. The other is the origin of Creative Communities in Brazil and the use of the term to describe communities that represent the struggle for freedom in the dictatorial system in force at the time they arose. As for the genesis of these communities, it has its origin in the capacity for reflection-action acquired by humanity during Cognitive Evolution and all its consequences, such as advances in communication, collaboration and effective action to change social behaviors. And they have their essence in the ideals of freedom from violent and oppressive systems. The evolution of these communities to Collaborative Networks happens with the union of several Collaborative Groups according to the technological advance of each time. Collaborative Groups that were already formed by neighborhood and physical contact today begin their activities virtually and from them arise the Virtual Creative Communities and their evolution to Large Virtual Collaborative Networks happens when Society is Democratic and elects Popular Governments that invest in Technological and Social Innovation. When there is unity and communication between the struggles of the Social Movements and the aspirations for democratic tools and solutions idealized by Groups of Intellectuals organized within Universities and Public Institutions, that is, when emotional, intellectual and material conditions are met.
