Resumo: With each passing day, schools are looking for increasingly an educational process based on meaningful learning, because by means of it will happen the appropriation of knowledge by students. One of the possibilities of a contextualized teaching and at the same time in which it arouses the interest of students to study, is the use of didactic games in Science Teaching. The didactic games have great playful potential in the classroom, because it is by means of them it is possible to provide students with moments of interaction and affectionateness, as well as fostering creativity and arouse the interest from the student to the content. Therefore, this work aims to evaluate the contributions of a didactic game in the approach of the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, together with students from the Basic Education, in order to enable meaningful learning. It was also sought to identify prior knowledge of the 45 students of the 6th year of Elementary School II, on the proposed theme. After the development of theoretical classes, was applied a board game entitled "Viral battle: fighting the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes" and, to finish, was applied the post-test. The analysis of the collected data showed that the intervention was efficient, because it favored the participation of the students in building your knowledge and showed that work with health education actions should be carried out in schools, because it is of extreme importance for the prevention of outbreaks of diseases caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
