The present work deals with the prison reform that took place in Pernambuco between the years 1973 to 1985. According to the periodical press of the State, it began with the deactivation of the Casa de Detenção do Recife and the construction of new prisons. However, as the research progress from year to year, we are faced with the sarne problems as before. Whatever, overcrowding, rebelions, escapes, public jails in ruins, going against what was published by the authorities in the newspapers. Thrus, through the analysis of this information, we produced, as a final product, an almanac that will be of great use, both for students of History, as well as for teachers and the general public. Despite all the difficulties, due to the Covid-19 pandemic that practically stopped the world, the work manages to contribute to the discussion of the Social History of Puni tive Institutions, with a considerable amount of originality.
