Resumo: |
The current context is marked by the expansion of neoconservatism and the alliance with the conservative Christian religious right, in the political, economic, social and cultural sphere and, for this reason, it affects individual and collective behavior and professions. Given this scenario, our research problem is based on the interest in knowing to what extent the professional's religious belonging influences their discourse and practice, contributing to ethical repercussions. We defend the thesis, therefore, that the professional's religious belonging affects their positions and their interventional action, contributing to the existence of ethical consequences and, therefore, we take the case of Social Work as an example, due to the trajectory of articulation of this profession. with the Christian religion in its Catholic and Protestant denominations. Our objective was to study the repercussions of religious belonging of Pentecostal, Neo-Pentecostal and Catholic neoconservative Christian social workers in their positions and intervention, contributing to the existence of ethical developments and confrontations to the ethical-political project of the category. In terms of methodology, the research had a qualitative approach and we adopted the Critical Discourse Analysis-CDA according to Norman Fairclough, which represents the British linguistic school of the late twentieth century, which considers discourse as a power relation and, thus, uses it. Gramsci's concept of hegemony as a practice that is related to ideologies and correlation of forces. For data collection, we used the public Facebook page called "Libertary Social Service", in which we identified and selected posts (posts, flyers) from the content of the document called "23 Theses for the Brazilian Social Service" by Oliveira (2017), in which we highlight numbers 1, 5, 7, 12, 13, 15; and the third chapter of the monograph “Religion and Social Service: freedom of belief and expression of the Christian and conservative social worker”, authored by Souza (2018). The results of the study point to the confirmation of the initial thesis, as the existence of neoconservative conflicts of a Christian religious nature is evidenced, contrary to the ethical-political project of the category, with the page being a place of hegemonic struggle. Notwithstanding the fact that the study takes place within the scope of Social Work, the repercussion occurs in all professions, characterizing itself as a scenario of threat to the democratic rule of law. |
