Resumo: Food and nutrition guidance was incorporated into the work of the brazilian health system marking the Ministry of Health's commitment to the food and nutrition of Brazil. The promotion of healthy eating has been evidenced, reaffirming that it is up to health professionals, especially those working in Primary Health Care, to educate the population on the adoption of healthy eating practices. Little is known about tho ocurrence of food and nutrition guidance and Food and Nutrition Education at this level of care. The general objective of this study was to understand the practices of Food and Nutrition Education by different health professionals in Primary Health Care in one city of SP. The qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research had the participation of eight health professionals from a Family Health Strategy. The data were treated based on the thematic content of the interviews and organized into thematic categories. The study findings point to the need for discussions os issues related to Food and Nutrition Education, due to the lack of these practices in the teams work for matrix support, prevention and health promotion of the population assisted.
