Resumo: ABSTRACT Remanufacturing is an important source of sustainable development. Remanufactured products provide quality standards of new products with low cost. In addition, remanufacturing companies represent a potential growth in employment, as are intensive in manpower due to the operations of disassembly, reconditioning and reassembly. Due to the unique characteristics of the remanufacturing process, it clearly has many differences compared to conventional manufacturing. These characteristics, which makes it a complex activity, requiring a good performance of the activities of the Production Planning and Control (PPC). In this research we intend to cope with PPC, specifically for the automotive parts remanufacturing, one of the most representative of the category in Brazil. The research objectives are to identify the main characteristics and challenges of remanufacturing auto parts, with respect to PPC, identifying the main features, management tools and challenges of remanufacturing in the literature with regard to PPC, and propose a model / method to fill the identified gaps about the difficulties in practice and literature on PPC in remanufacturing. The proposed method, to fill one of the gaps identified, is to perform the disassembly master production scheduling considering stochastic routings. Thus, the results of this study contribute effectively to the development of theory and practical application with respect to PPC in remanufacturing.
