This research, based on the critical theory of society, aims to identify the determinants of barbarism condition lived by contemporary society, which is characterized by high rate of technological development, manly in digital forms, and it is pronounced by ubiquity of so-called social networks whose role of agent in social conflicts it is increasingly stated. From the data elaborated by researchers of Warwick University (UK), that indicates a positive correlation between Facebook usage and increasing of anti-refuges attacks on Germany, this research proposes do establish a reference to understand the logic of how networks work and what is its place in social dynamics ,in order to identify its previous development and the possible effects of its increasing insertion and use. As a way to overcome the discussion about the use or intrinsic value of social networks, the criticism of rationality present in the concept of the dialectic of enlightenment is pointed as a direction. From the impossibility of individual formation in a social organization guided by barbarism which denies the human being the necessary conditions for its constitution, elements of the work of Theodor W. Adorno, Max Horkheimer and Herbert Marcuse are resumed to identify the determinants in the formation process proper to the so-called global culture industry. We seek to understand the relationship between the progression of barbarism and the imprisonment of the individual in a deformation, research that is guided by the hypothesis of an ongoing forgetfulness in the social reality organization and in which chosen principles are depart from defending what would be a righteous humanity using constantly updated mechanisms. In this perspective, the current social order it is characterized by the contradiction observed between the maintenance of oblivion and forms that otherwise announce the promise of non-forgetting, deeply connected to the processing capacity of technologies increasingly inserted in the lives of individuals. Given that social networks reorganize today's culture from the alignment between technological rationality and the strengthening of the instrumental dimension of individuality, reflects on how formation should be considered in order to maintain the principle of emancipation as a horizon. Reflection that starts from the need to think about ways of resistance to conditions of barbarism that appropriate and set in motion the ordering social forces of human life and imposes on education the need to reaffirm its purposes and means, in order to function as the place of fulfillment of the individual.
