This qualitative research tries to understand how the production of memory places occurs, according to the concept developed by the historian Pierre Nora (1993), being restricted to the analysis of public spaces of the historical center of Sorocaba, city of the interior of São Paulo. To understand the production of these places of memory is also to understand how the counterpoint occurs, that is, the production of the invisibles or the amnestic places. From this it follows that the relation between people and these places of memory, as public spaces, produce educational processes that can interfere in the quality of the formation of the historical subject and of his citizenship. The research also seeks to highlight the counter-hegemonic resistance movements.
