Resumo: |
The present study is part of the research line Education, Policies and Practices in Education, and its general objective is to understand the potentialities/possibilities of using MOOCs to promote the internationalization of Higher Education at home. The specific objectives are to verify how the MOOCs help in the undergraduate formation of the students; identify the expectations of learners when participating in a MOOC; to present alternatives that allow the use of MOOCs in Higher Education, in order to qualify the internationalization process at home. To reach the proposed objectives, the qualitative approach was adopted, corresponding to a case study, and as a research instrument the semi-structured interview. The subjects of the study are 5 undergraduate students from a Polytechnic School located in the South region of Brazil, having as selection criteria students who have participated in some international MOOC and have not performed academic mobility. The theoretical basis of the study is in the light of authors such as Wit (2002), Morosini and Nascimento (2017), Beelen and Jones (2015), Knight (2004, 2008), Siemens (2004), among others. Through this research it was possible to perceive that the students sought to perform MOOCs with the expectation of healing curiosity about this type of course; meet their needs and interests in relation to expanding and learning new knowledge; develop learning that could have applicability in the professional practice; and enable them to enter the labor market. Thus, it is necessary to present some alternatives that allow the use of MOOCs in Higher Education, that is, educational institutions may include this modality of course in the curriculum; the teacher will be able to recommend platforms in his/her classes, suggest MOOCs for the students to carry out the distance and later interact, relating to the contents developed in both spaces, in the context of the Higher Education in person. Therefore, developing research on MOOCs as a possibility for the internationalization of Higher Education at home has generated significant contributions to such an educational context, as well as to the development of the learning of university students. For, we understand that this study presents relevant knowledge for Higher Education in Brazil, especially in relation to internationalization at home, since this new social/global context, in which we find ourselves requires a more contextualized academic formation, so that university students can follow and act in a changing world. |
