Resumo: This work is divided into two parts: one of a fictional nature, consisting of the novel Condomínio Utopian, and the other essayistic, consisting of the essay entitled Brick by brick in a logical design: the creative construction of Condomínio Utopian. The novel is set in a gated community located on the north coast of Rio Grande do Sul, focusing on some of its owners and bringing to light the relationships established between them, permeated by their fears, vanities and insecurities. As the days go by, the conflicts intensify, culminating in a tragedy occurred during the condos' get-together ball. The essay, in turn, starts from the experience of fictional production, shedding light on the technical difficulties encountered in bundling the different cores of characters into a cohesive novel and focusing on its central theme, the frank spread of gated communities along the north coast of Rio Grande do Sul. It also examines some of the solutions found to move through the complex ecosystem of a fictitious gated community, such as the elaboration of maps and the study of advertising pieces. Concerns, experiences and observations that crossed the four years of the project – from the initial idea to the epilogue that closes the work – are interspersed with records and theoretical contributions, capturing a broad panorama of the writing process of Condomínio Utopian.
