Resumo: |
This research had as its goal to analyze the attributes that characterize the sustainable leadership in the organizations. In a context in which social and environmental questions make part of the organizations agenda, including in these issues up to discussion the thematic of sustainability and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), researches point out substantially the fundamental role that leaders exert to encourage adoption and integration of sustainable practices in the organization business. The managing of challenges related to sustainability requires specific characteristics and competences of such leaders. Though it is possible to find out studies that examine the theme sustainable leadership in a theoretical basis, it is denoted little convergence among them, firstly when checking the nomenclature applied to characterize such leadership. Characteristics, behavior and competences are some of these nomenclatures and from its revisit we compiled all of them under the label of attributes. So, when questing to analyze the attributes that characterize the sustainable leadership, the applied method was the study of multiple and comparative cases, interviewing 14 leaders of four different companies. The results point out seven important attributes of sustainable leadership: Leadership, Interpersonal Skill, Focus on Sustainability, Guidance to Change, Alignment with the Culture of the Organization, Moral Values and Principles and Business Vision. These attributes can be related to the leader personal aspects or to the culture of the organization in which he is part of. Also, these attributes can be related to each other in such a way that the importance of one reinforces the importance of the other. Finally, It was identified three main motivational factors for the CSR in the organizations: the Values of the Organization, Commitment and Retention of Professionals and Competitive Advantage, which were tied up with the identified attributes. |
