This work constitutes a research about effects caused in teachers from the participation in the Programa de Alfabetização Audiovisual. The program is based in Porto Alegre, RS and, in 2018, completed ten years of existence. The research relates the fields of cinema and education with concepts of aesthetic experience and teacher training, and was carried out through meetings with teachers who, from participating in the program, reported changes in their way of being a teacher. The analysis of their narratives enabled a set of findings about the experience in the program, suggesting that there were effective changes in the pedagogical practices and in the participants' sensibilities, described under three general categories: changes in the pedagogical practice, shifts in the sensibilities and perception of aesthetic openness
