Resumo: This dissertation was formed from two studies according to the rules of the Psychology Post-graduation Program of Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio Grande do Sul, PUCRS. The systematic review of literature, first study called Considerations on Children Discharge after Classification and Definition of Discharge in Children Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, aimed to analyze discharge studies in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy. For that reason, literature about discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy was systematically consulted via keywords, descriptors and terminology used for or related to discharge on the electronic databases MEDLINE (Pubmed), PsycINFO, LILACS, PEPSIC, SciELO and INDEXPSI. The results demonstrated absence of studies related to discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy of ambulatory care. However a revealing study was identified related to children discharge after psychotherapy classification which made it possible to reflect on the moment when the discharge can take place and the definition of discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Moreover the results showed research about discharge of hospital patients in general and researches about psychotherapy dropouts. So there is considered to be a significant gap in psychotherapy discharge of children treated in clinics. The second study, Discharge Predictors in Children Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, aimed to: characterize the sample which obtained discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy through sociodemographic and clinical terms, verify the relation between children psychoanalytic discharge and sociodemographic variables (age, sex, family structure, level of education), examine the relation between children psychoanalytic psychotherapy discharge and clinical variables (reason for consultation, guiding source, time of treatment, psychological and neurological evaluation) and examine which sociodemographic and clinical variables predict discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Data collection was composed by medical registers of children who received treatment in three institutions: Contemporâneo Trans disciplinary and Psychoanalysis Institute, Study Center and Psychotherapy Care for Children and Adolescents (CEAPIA) and Integrated Studies of Psychoanalytical psychotherapy (ESIPP). The results obtained showed that 24.2% out of the sample analyzed received discharge; two clinical variables neurological evaluation and treatment time were predictors of discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy based on the results of the chi-square statistical test (X²) and Poisson regression. The clinical variable psychological evaluation can be considered protective for discharge in children psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The sociodemographic variables were not statistically significant for discharge. The results of both studies were discussed based on the closest literature to the results found because of the little pertinent literature.
