This paper covers the use of evaluation researches based on mixed approach in in implementing implementingimplementing implementingimplementingimplementingimplementing implementing the social the socialthe socialthe social the social the socialthe social-assistanceassistance assistanceassistance surveillance surveillance surveillancesurveillance surveillance surveillance . The goal is the presentation of a proposal with theoretical-methodological, technical-operational and ethical-political feature, for the use of evaluative research based on mixed approach in implementing the social-assistance surveillance, seeking approaches that support a better understanding of the topic in order to contribute to the improvement of public social welfare policy and expansion of knowledge on these issues, that still have little publication in Brazil. For the research it was decided to adopt the critical dialectical method and the literature search and document analysis of quantitative and qualitative approach, as instruments. The research demonstrated that the social-assistance surveillance is one of the functions to be developed by the Social Care Unified System, with specific and common responsibilities to municipalities, states and Union. Should be responsible for the supervision of vulnerability and risk experienced by families and individuals and the surveillance of the network provider of social assistance services. Occurs through the process of development of socio-territorial diagnoses, monitoring and evaluation processes, which in turn, require procedures related to scientific research. To this end, it is presented a methodological proposal from the characterization of the types of evaluative research in accordance with the instant, with the origin, user participation, among others. Together, the mixed approach offers, through a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, a number of elements, models, tools and collection techniques, organizing, systematizing and data analyses. The formatting of this proposal brings with it the opportunity to contribute, especially with municipalities, for materializing social-assistance surveillance under the SUAS.
