Resumo: |
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic performance of 4 mm extra short length implants in maxilla and mandible rehabilitation. A total of 40 patients were observed through anamnesis, clinical examination and radiographs. They received 88 implants installed by 05 different professionals at 05 di fferent private clinics, with maximum of 53 months follow up. The measurements proportion between clinical and anatomical crowns of the implants was also evaluated. The results showed a 93.18% implant survival rate, that is, 06 failures events in the obser ved period, all before loading. There was no implant loss after loading, only biological and prosthetic complications that were solved without needing expensive intervention, therefore reaching a post loading survival rate of 100%. No significant statistic difference in the crown implant ratio was found for such failures and complications. Therefore, within the limitations of this study, 4 mm extra short length dental implants could be considered as a viable treatment option for patients with anatomical l imitations, and may offer a less invasive, faster and cheaper treatment to the patient. |
