Resumo: |
The main goal of this study consists on improving the knowledge about the relationship between Science Parks organizational competences and the competitive factors of software engineering companies established at the TECNOPUC Science Park. In order to achieve this objective, four concepts were thoroughly studied to build up a theoretical base. Firstly, the study aimed to come up with a much better understanding about what an organizational competence means based upon who has studied this topic over the last twenty years. The second step was to research on Science Parks: how they work, its history, key success factors and so on. The Information Technology (IT) branch is the third concept, focusing on software engineering organizations and how they function. Lastly, this paper studied the theory, prior researches and all the knowledge regarding competitiveness. The methodology was based on a multi-case study of an explorative and qualitative nature. Data was obtained through half-structured interviews, carried out with the TECNOPUC managers, specialists on competitiveness and the employees of the companies established on the TECNOPUC. The companies websites as well as other scientific papers have also been researched. The data obtaining started with TECNOPUC managers and their view about park competences, in order to validate the existence of the Science Park competences. The same approach was used to validate competitiveness factors through specialists on the subject. The third step sought to identify and characterize, interviewing the companies employees, the existence of a relationship between competences and competitiveness factors. After all the data obtaining, it was time to analyze and compare it to the theoretical basis previously built. A few conclusions can be pointed out from this data crossing. The interviews analysis identifies a few positive factors from the relationship between companies and the TECNOPUC, such as: human resource capacity, infrastructure, as well as the brand TECNOPUC. These examples empower companies to create competitive advantages inside their market. However, there are other factors, such as the integrate projects management between colleges and companies, that could be enhanced on a financial way, on the human resources maintenance, relationship with academy resources, among others. As a final conclusion, it is important to point out something: there are lots of opportunities to enhance the relationship between the TECNOPUC and companies, besides other involved actors, such as the government and venture capital companies. This enhancement cannot, nonetheless, be seen just from the Park s side, or just from the companies view, but from all the subjects involved. Every party has its own responsibility in the process. The Park s successfulness lays on everybody s collaboration. |
