This thesis analyzes the learning of English idioms as an additional language by elderly learners, being part of the Linguistics and Psychology areas, and it is based on additional language acquisition theories. Specifically, it is carried through the usage of an instrument which aims at verifying the inferential process about English idioms as an additional language, related to body parts, equivalent and non-equivalent to Portuguese, by elderly learners who speak Brazilian Portuguese as their Mother Tongue, through an awareness raising-based instruction.
