Resumo: Drug packages contain and protect drugs, and changes in packaging materials have a critical impact on product performance, as they come into direct contact with the drug. The characterization of the multilayer polymeric film before and after the degradation process, used as packaging in large volume parenteral solution bags (LVPS) is the objective of this work, justified by the fact that the film is the main means of guaranteeing its suitability for use intended. To carry out the investigation, the following techniques were employed: Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Fourier Infrared Spectrometry, Nuclear Magnetic Spectrometry, Raman Spectrometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, Contact Angle and Mechanical Assay of Traction. The study carried out consists of evaluating the process of degradation of samples of the polymeric multilayer film in solutions of sodium chloride, glucose and deionized water both when exposed to microwave heating or not. The methodologies employed in the presente work proved to be satisfactory for use in the routine quality control of packaging materials used in the pharmaceutical industry, contributing to ensuring the reliability of LVPS packaging.
