Our research aims to evaluate the state s landmarks creation processes made by the State Historical and Artistic Landmark Institute (IPHAE) between the decades of 1980 and 1990. We can say that there were some changes in the way how processes came to be organized, like in creating historical and technical analysis that reinforce the conditions and the relevance of the properties to be considered as landmarks, and the collaboration from people outside IPHAE, like municipal secretaries, museum directors and presidents from associations. It were analyzed also the values attached to the properties, as well as the groups granted with the preservation, the contestations made over the landmark process and the conservation status of each property . Therefore, we aim to acquire a historical memory through the properties considered as landmarks, as well as the relationship among the landmark memories, the historical heritage and the individual memory over the years
