Resumo: |
Organizations have been distributing their software development activities around the world for over a decade, increasing the work with distributed teams. At the same time, agile methods have recently been used by software engineers in order to deliver faster results and more value to the client, providing face to face communication, rapid response to change, among other practices. Although it sounds contradictory, agile methods have been used as a strategy for distributed teams become more productive. Pair programming is an agile practice of the extreme programming method, which has been used with distributed teams. In this context this practice has many benefits, including information sharing and increasing product quality. For this reason, the goal of this dissertation is to understand the advantages and challenges of distributed pair programming and to develop a set of best practices to facilitate their adoption and use. For the development of this research we have used both secondary (systematic literature review) and primary (multiple case studies with practitioners) studies. The main contribution of this research is the development of a set of best practices for distributed pair programming for the industry, and the systematization of the empirical evidence about this topic |
