The objective of this research is to understand how social innovation promotes development of the community and the environment in which it is carried out. In addition, tried to respond four specific objectives: a) Understand the context of social innovation; b) Identify which are the agents involved in the process of social innovation; c) Understand how the actors involved relate to each other; and d) Analyze the results that the interaction between the media generates without context. For this, was made a journal review on social innovation with focus, mainly, in local development promoted by social innovations. The research have qualitative nature, followed by a Grounded Theory methodology applied to the Vila Flores case. The data collection was performed through the analysis of semi-structured interviews, observations in the field and videos and documents analysis, while an analysis of the data was performed through the constant comparision. The academic results were evaluated by the proposal of a model of social analysis and local development, by the use of Grounded Theory and by the identification of new properties of social innovation. The managerial results are generated by a dissemination of collaborative practices in social anda tradicional enterprises.
