Resumo: |
This dissertation consists of two studies, one theoretical and one empirical, which sought to describe the main practices used by police officers or responsible professionals to interview suspects. The theoretical section consisted of a non - systematic review of the literature, which had the objective of presenting the main studies on interviews with suspects (IS) already published. The study sought to portray the main dilemmas found in the literature about IS practices, in addition to highlighting which practices are based on the most recommended evidence in the literature. The empirical section aimed at a study about the IS practices, including the elaboration of an instrument to be later answered by professionals responsible for IS. This study aimed to describe the most frequent IS practices used by police officers, as well as to discuss later those which are considered most effective from the point of view of the literature. The results of the literature review suggest that there are few available and representative materials in Brazil regarding IS techniques, which makes it difficult to elaborate specific training for professionals' practice, while the theme is more developed in United Kingdom and United States . The results of the empirical section, however, describe the main practices used by civilian police to interview suspects and other IS characteristics. It is suggested that more specific IS training be made available to the police officers responsible for the practice, so that these provide a greater development of the skills of the professionals. |
