Resumo: |
This thesis uses the Transtheoretical Model of Change (TTM) as an intervention approach on overweight and obese adolescents to evaluate the maintenance of the modification of habits related to lifestyle. We presented theoretical concepts to support this study and to contextualize intervention protocol and its execution. We address the diagnosis and prevalence of overweight and obese adolescents, as well as the implications of such conditions on health and survival rates. This thesis main objective is to evaluate the maintenance effect of an interdisciplinary intervention that aims to motivate lifestyle change and metabolic factors in overweight or obese adolescents. We wrote a theoretical and an empirical study to answer the research problems and understand the phenomenon. The review of the literature presents different treatment approaches used for overweight or obese adolescents based on the modification of eating habits and practice of physical exercise and utilizing the TTM as a possibility of intervention. We carried out a longitudinal study related to the maintenance of the effect of TTM intervention for weight loss on the psychological variables of self-efficacy and motivation to regulate eating habits and practice of physical exercise and decision-making. The intervention is effective on the psychological and motivational variables of overweight or obese adolescents, and could intensify changes in anthropometric variables in the long term through lifestyle changes. |
