Resumo: |
The present essay aims to describe a narrative structure developed by author Maureen Murdock in her book The Heroine's journey, as well as present a creative project based on such theory. Noticing that the hero's journey, created by Joseph Campbell and then Christopher Vogler, did not adequately represent female characters, female authors, such as Murdock herself, began to outline a new narrative structure targeting female leads in fictional stories. Such research resulted in the description of ten stages of the heroine's journey, which were used to developed the screenplay Before the rain. The stages are as follows: Separation from the feminine; identification with the masculine and gathering allies; road of trials; finding the boon of success; awakening to feelings of spiritual aridity; initiation and descent to the Goddess; urgent yearning to reconnect with the feminine; healing the mother/daughter split; healing the wounded masculine; integration of masculine and feminine. |
