This research investigates the origins of the concept of ideology, addressing its consequences in the political arena, especially considering the left-right dimension. Examines the relativity of these concepts based on the suggestions of some contemporary intellectual currents and disputes such suggestions with the hypothesis that the dyad remains present in the common sense of citizens/voters, in the perceptions of political actors and Political Science literature. Then, by examining the behavior of the Fundação Tarso Dutra (FTD), the entity responsible for training the militants and defend the ideology of the Partido Progressista (PP) in Rio Grande do Sul, aims to understand the indoctrinationand the ideology of the party in that state. Analyzing the historical development and electoral performance of the PP/RS, suggests that many party members absorb the conservative indoctrination of FTD, rejecting the phenomenon of direita envergonhada . Moreover, from a methodology based on questionnaires along with progressistas and analysis of party propaganda and the PP site, notes that the conservative discourse is transferred also to the electoral arena and contributes to form the idea of singularity of the PP/RS before the national PP. Finally, the research lists the subsidies collected during a "participant observation" occurred in a training course sponsored by FTD, which added to the examination of the publications of the organization, reveal the elements that sustain his doctrine and justify their polical positions.
